Echo Wang, founder & lead instructor

Namaste,

I am Echo, Canadian entrepreneur, Lead Trainer and Founder of Yoga Kawa.

I am also your classic modern woman, working towards having it all by juggling between being my best self; while being the best daughter, wife, mom (to a fur baby), friend, manager, and member of our community.

With every one of these roles seemingly hanging on a delicate balance, yoga gave me the courage to live a life true to myself, and not the expectation anyone else may have for me.

From that courage, inception: Yoga Kawa.

I created Yoga Kawa because I believe that by sharing the wisdom and principles found in Yoga, I can improve our world that is overwhelmed by stress – the root cause for many physical and mental illnesses.

Yoga came and rescued me during the hardest time in my life when I had no healthy relationship to lean on. I was deliriously stuck in a loveless, hopeless and soul-sucking ‘romantic’ relationship, which chipped away at the relationship with myself; our family sunk into serious financial crisis; my mother became a single parent. At the same time, we had a house fire that left us homeless.

Depressed, homeless, pressured to finish university and with no stability in any aspect of my life, I developed insomnia, hyperthyroidism and eczema – the sign of my own body attacking myself!

After taking advantage of a 10-day yoga pass, I found the sense of calmness, relief and peace in just 6 classes and it felt magical and life-changing to me.

Through the years of practice, Yoga connected me to a powerful inner compass that was buried under a mountain of cloudy judgment, fear, anxiety, and self-doubt. I was on my path to leave an emotional and chaotic life behind. I was finally compelled to complete my Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) program during an eye-opening trip to India.

Just like Rumi said, “The wound is where the light enters you”. My broken heart, body and life slowly integrated back together through my practice. What started off as a 10-day fun pass, turned into a decade of teaching others how yoga can improve their world.

“Practicing Yoga is like having your mind and heart having a deep conversation with your body to reveal your purpose, potential, priority and productivity.”

My teaching is rooted in respect for the students’ abilities and my movements flow with curiosity for their potentials. Each class has an invigorate sequence that helps students to progressively find their physical edge. I weave thought-provoking meditations throughout the flow to cultivate minds that accept one’s boundaries, turn chaos to calm, strengthen interconnection to the world and to embrace one’s imperfections.

It is a blend of playfulness and exploration that arrives at a deep relaxation and a message to the students – to always reside in the kind strength of the higher self.

I hope my experience will inspire you to try a class with our teachers.

For those curious about deepening their practice and sharing their light with the world, I look forward to chatting with you about our Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) program.

So come join us and take your body through the most fleeting moments full of self-respect and love.

In joy, in kindness, in success.
