Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) Deposit, Payment & Refund Policy

200-Hour Yoga Alliance Certified (RYS-200)

Last updated: March 2026

Overview

This policy governs deposits, tuition payments, refunds, and withdrawals for Yoga Kawa’s 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) program. It forms part of our Terms of Service. For refund policies covering classes, events, and other services, please refer to our Event Cancellation & Refund Policy.

By enrolling in the YTT program, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms set out below.

1. Deposit

  • A refundable deposit of $100 is required to secure your spot in the program.
  • The deposit is applied toward your total tuition.
  • Enrolment is confirmed once both the deposit and the signed enrolment agreement are received.
  • If you withdraw before the program begins and are eligible for a refund under Section 3, the $100 deposit is included in your refund.

2. Tuition and Payment Options

All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD) and are subject to applicable HST.

2.1 Tuition Rates

Option

Tuition (before HST)

$2,700

Standard Rate (payment plan)

$3,500

2.2 Payment Options

  • Pay in Full: $2,700 + HST. No additional fees.
  • Two-Part Payment Plan: 50% of the standard rate ($3,500) due at registration (includes your $100 deposit); the remaining 50% due 30 days before the program start date. A 5% administrative fee applies and is included in the standard rate.
  • Monthly Instalments: Equal monthly payments based on the standard rate ($3,500). A 5% administrative fee applies and is included in the standard rate. All payments must be completed before graduation.

2.3 Late Payments

Failure to complete payments on schedule may result in suspension of participation or restricted access to course materials until payments are brought current. All outstanding tuition remains payable in full regardless of attendance status.

3. Refunds and Withdrawals

Because program capacity is limited and resources are committed in advance, the following refund schedule applies to all withdrawals:

Withdrawal Timeframe

Full refund (including $100 deposit)

30 to 15 days before program start

50% refund of tuition paid (including deposit portion)

14 days or fewer before program start

No refund

After the program begins

No refund or credit

Examples:

  • You enrol on March 1 for a May 15 start and withdraw on March 5 (within 7 days, more than 30 days out): full refund of all payments including the $100 deposit.
  • You withdraw on April 25 for a May 15 start (20 days before): 50% refund of total tuition paid.
  • You withdraw on May 5 for a May 15 start (10 days before): no refund.
  • You withdraw after the first weekend of training: no refund or credit.

All withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing to the Program Director at info@yogakawa.com.

4. Late Enrolment

Students who enrol within 14 days of the program start date are considered late enrollees. The following terms apply:

  • Full tuition payment is required at registration unless a written payment plan is approved by the Program Director.
  • Late enrolment payment plan (if approved): 70% due at registration; 30% due within 14 days of the program start date or before the second training weekend, whichever comes first. The 5% administrative fee applies.
  • No refunds or deferrals: Late enrollees are not eligible for refunds or deferrals once enrolled.
  • All outstanding tuition remains payable in full even if the student withdraws or stops attending.

5. Transfers and Deferrals

Students may transfer their enrolment to a different YTT cohort subject to the following conditions:

  • Transfers must be requested in writing and are subject to availability and written approval from the Program Director.
  • A $200 transfer fee
  • Transfers must be to a cohort starting within 12 months of the original program start date.
  • Only one transfer per student is permitted.
  • Deposits and tuition payments are not transferable to another person.

Example: You were enrolled in the May 2026 cohort but defer to the January 2027 session. Your tuition is credited to the new session minus the $200 transfer fee.

6. Cancellation by Yoga Kawa

If the YTT program is cancelled by Yoga Kawa, all payments (including the deposit) will be fully refunded, or you may transfer your enrolment to a future cohort at no additional cost. The choice is yours.

7. Force Majeure

If the program is postponed, rescheduled, or transitioned to a different delivery format (e.g., online or hybrid) due to circumstances beyond Yoga Kawa’s control (such as natural disasters, public health emergencies, government restrictions, or instructor incapacity):

  • The program will be rescheduled or delivered in an alternative format.
  • Tuition will be credited toward the rescheduled or reformatted session.
  • Refunds will not be issued solely because of a change in delivery format or schedule resulting from force majeure.
  • If you are unable to attend the rescheduled session, you may request a transfer to a future cohort (subject to the transfer terms in Section 5, including the $200 fee).

8. Delivery Format

Training may be delivered in-person, hybrid, or online at the discretion of the Program Director. The delivery format does not alter tuition, refund, or transfer terms.

9. Special Circumstances

In verified medical or compassionate situations (e.g., hospitalization, bereavement), partial credit toward a future YTT cohort may be granted at the discretion of the Program Director. Supporting documentation will be required.

Example: A student who becomes medically unable to continue after completing 25% of the training may receive a credit equal to 50% of the unused tuition, applicable toward a future YTT cohort within 12 months.

10. Attendance and Completion

Students must meet all attendance, assignment, and practicum requirements as outlined in the program materials to graduate and receive their RYT-200 certification through Yoga Alliance.

  • Yoga Kawa reserves the right to withhold certification if program requirements are not met.
  • Failure to complete the program does not qualify for a refund, credit, or tuition reduction.

11. Dismissal and Conduct

Students may be dismissed from the program for:

  • Non-payment of tuition
  • Unethical behaviour
  • Harassment of any kind
  • Conduct that is disruptive to the learning environment or harmful to other students, instructors, or staff

Dismissed students are not eligible for refunds or credits. All outstanding tuition remains payable in full.

12. Outstanding Tuition Liability

Students who withdraw, stop attending, or are dismissed remain financially responsible for the full balance of any unpaid tuition under their agreed payment plan.

13. How to Submit a Request

All withdrawal, refund, transfer, and deferral requests must be submitted in writing:

Please include:

  • Your full name
  • The cohort you are enrolled in (start date and location)
  • The nature of your request (withdrawal, transfer, refund, or other)
